Privacy Policy

This site is a small one. The short version: we do not ask you for personal information, and we never see your payment details.

Pending legal review

This page is a good-faith draft written for a small independent site. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the following details are still outstanding. Nothing here should be read as a claim of legal compliance.

  • The legal entity that operates Woodsmith Lab, its business address and its country of registration.
  • The governing jurisdiction, and whether GDPR (EU/UK visitors) or CPRA (California residents) applies to this site's traffic.
  • The named analytics provider, once one is configured — this page currently describes analytics generically because no vendor is installed yet.
  • The mailing tool that receives addresses from the free guide form, named explicitly, plus its own privacy terms and where it stores data.
  • Whether an explicit marketing consent checkbox is required before emailing anyone who downloads the guide — the form currently promises the download only.
  • Whether a cookie consent banner is legally required for the visitor mix, and if so, which categories it must gate.
  • A data retention period for anything an analytics vendor stores on our behalf.

The free guide form

One page offers a free woodworking guide in exchange for an email address. That address is used to deliver the download and is passed to the mailing tool we use to hold it. We do not ask for your name, your address or your phone number, and we never ask for payment details — there is nowhere on this site to enter them.

Alongside the address we record which page and which ad angle the request came from. We do not store your IP address, your browser fingerprint or anything else that identifies you beyond the email you typed. The guide itself is hosted and provided by the seller, not by us.

To have your address removed, write to hello@woodsmithlab.com and we will delete it.

What we do not collect

Beyond that one form, Woodsmith Lab has no account system, no contact form and no checkout. Browsing the rest of the site asks nothing of you.

If you email us, we will have whatever you put in the email. We use it to answer you and nothing else.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used — page views, how far down a page people read, and which buttons get clicked — so we can tell what is working. These measurements record the page path, the button, the time, and any utm_ campaign values in the address bar. They do not include your name, your email address or anything else that identifies you personally.

Analytics may be provided by a third-party tool — for example Google Analytics, the Meta pixel or the TikTok pixel — which sets its own cookies or local storage under its own privacy policy. Any such tool is loaded only when we have configured it; at the time of writing this page we have not, and no third-party analytics script is served. You can block these with your browser settings or an ad blocker; the site works normally either way.

Campaign values in the address bar

If you arrive here from an ad or a link that carries utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign or utm_content, those values are stored in your browser's session storage so we can tell which campaign brought you. They are cleared when you close the tab, and they contain no personal information.

Affiliate links

Our affiliate buttons point at a page on this site, /go/plans, which immediately redirects you to the seller's official website. That step exists so the affiliate address stays on our server rather than in the page you download. It reads only the campaign values described above, stores nothing, sets no cookie, and records no IP address or identifier of any kind.

From there, links to TedsWoodworking go through ClickBank, which sets a cookie recording that you arrived from us so that a commission can be credited. That process is ClickBank's, governed by their privacy policy, and we receive no personal information about you from it — only aggregate reports of clicks and sales.

Once you leave this site, you are on the seller's site and ClickBank's checkout. Anything you enter there — including your payment details — is collected and held by them, never by us. See our affiliate disclosure for how that relationship works.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can browse this site without giving us anything. To go further, block cookies and scripts in your browser, or use a privacy extension. To ask what we hold from an email exchange, or to have it deleted, write to hello@woodsmithlab.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
